About ProFuturo

ProFuturo is a social project developed through a cooperation agreement between IFRN, FUNCERN and Fomento do Brasil with the aim of developing sustainable development technologies and solutions for the resettlement of 240 families from the Potengi Agrarian Reform Settlement Project in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.

What we are doing

Sustainable Development Goals

The ProFuturo Project seeks to align its goals with the United Nations (UN ) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs ), promoting social, economic and environmental development for the resettled families.

Develop the Resettlement Plan to characterize the specific needs and expectations of the Potengi Settlement Project and define the preliminary actions for the resettlement process.
(SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4 and 11)

Eradicating poverty through planning aimed at the economic self-development of resettled families.

To develop a plan that promotes local agriculture in a sustainable way and, on this basis, guarantees zero hunger in the PA.

Plan ways of implementing the project In order to guarantee the right to health and well-being for the settlers.

Plan ways of implementing the project in order to guarantee the right to quality education for the settlers.

Plan the project In order to guarantee access to safe and adequate housing, basic services and safe and affordable transportation.

Developing the basic and executive projects for the construction of the Potengi Settlement Project infrastructure, including the implementation of access roads, new housing, basic sanitation, public facilities, as well as supervision and support for the works.

Developing and guaranteeing access to drinking water and adequate sanitation for families in the new settlement project.

Give everyone access to clean, reliable, sustainable, modern and affordable energy.

Promote and guarantee the development of quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure for settlers for their production.

Draw up Socio-environmental Diagnoses, addressing issues related to the soil, productivity of the local economy and geographical aspects of the region. (SDGs 8, 9 and 11)

Promote the Settlement Project's economic growth and encourage the achievement of higher levels of economic productivity.

Developing quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure for economic development and human well-being

Identify and promote support for positive economic, social and environmental relations.

Implement the Socio-Economic Development Plan for the Potengi Settlement Project with the necessary actions for its sustainable development (SDGs 8 and 11).

Identify actions that promote decent work and inclusive and sustainable economic growth within the Settlement Project.

Identify ways to promote sustainable communities, making the Settlement Project inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

Promote the training of settlers through a sustainable business model, promoting the commercialization of production and the implementation of productive equipment to strengthen responsible and efficient practices. (SDG 12)

Potengi Settlement Project

With roots in agriculture and the history of Agrarian Reform, these communities face challenges such as a lack of infrastructure and dependence on basic production methods.

The project seeks to preserve their traditions, guaranteeing decent housing, modern infrastructure and opportunities for sustainable development, such as micro-industries and training, promoting autonomy and quality of life.
